An Introduction

I originate from Bolton in Lancashire and as far as I can recall I have always drawn from an early age. Whilst serving my time as a carpenter I attended evening classes at Bolton Art College.
I joined the army and was lucky enough to be able to continue with my artwork during this time. When I left the army I returned to carpentry and built up a good reputation for my fine and precise work; which is reflected in the high standard of my artwork.
Due to my love of wood I looked at the world of marquetry and became fascinated by the texture and colours that were available. My attention to detail became my greatest asset and commissions followed.
On moving to Norfolk I concentrated on my pencil drawings with great success but was inspired to paint in oils by the American artist; Bob Ross. Since then I have developed my own original style using oils and acrylics.
The landlady of my local public house; The Harnser;agreed to display some of my work which resulted in sales and commissions not only from local people but from holidaymakers as well.
Whilst I enjoy painting most subjects, animals tend to be more expressive than people and I find that I can put a more contemporary feel to them.
Pencil is still my favourite medium and I get a lot of satisfaction from a completed drawing.
Enough said, onward and upward!
